Summary of Role

Supports Ireland supply needs by effective management of supplier base, cost management and timely deliveries. Performs tasks that add value to the product and finds sources that will outperform those sources that do not add value.  Defines the lowest total cost supplier as opposed to the lowest price supplier. Adds a senior level perspective to Purchasing due to experience in the industry.     

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe work practices are being followed at all times, report any near misses immediately to the EHS Department.
• Set goals to track KPI’s and measure results in accordance with the site’s vision and savings goals.  Utilize data analytics to review supplier performance on KPI’s and drive continuous improvements.
• Support existing and new component purchases with the selection of the most capable, cost-effective suppliers to meet the material specifications.
• Represent the function as an active member of the NPI project team providing advice and recommendations based on product suitability and cost factors.
• Drive Vendor Management to ensure the highest level of quality and service.  Select and partner with key suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery of products.
• Partner with key functions, including finance, estimating, business development, and operations to drive results that align to the site’s goals and objectives.
• Develop innovative and bold strategies to drive savings in new ways while managing, engaging and promoting continuous cost reduction and quality improvement efforts.
• Be a liaison between vendors, business units, and operations teams, to deal with material or service issues in a timely fashion.
• Identify and leverage opportunities for continuous improvement and manage financial risk.  Analyse purchase price variances compared to quote.
• Develop strong relationships with all internal shareholders to maintain positive relations with peers and the site leadership team to ensure key deliverables are met.
• Ensure that all components will run on selected PCI machines for production.  Manage inventory levels, warehouse capacity, and slow-moving inventory.
• This position may require overtime and/or weekend work. This position may require travel by airplane and/or car up to 10% of the year.
• Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.  Ensure adherence to all company policies and processes for the entire Procurement team.
• Attention to detail is an essential function of this position
• Performs other ad hoc duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
• Carry out various other additional tasks that may be required from time to time in accordance with the overall goal of the company.

Knowledge / Skills

Essential: Qualifications (please include level of education needed)

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
• Intermediate
• Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.                                            
• Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
• High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.

Desirable:

• Experience in a GMP or Regulated Environment.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, including experience in Lean tools to develop continuous improvements.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Ability to display a willingness to make decisions.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
