Role Purpose

Lead and develop the site Quality function, ensuring Quality and Food Safety are embedded across all operations and integrated into the company culture. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Quality, Food Safety & Compliance

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Quality and Food Safety, achieving departmental objectives while managing costs within budget.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance a sustainable and agile Quality Management System (QMS) that meets all legal, regulatory, and brand standards.
  • Lead preparations for external regulatory audits and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee internal and supplier audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of management systems through audits, data review, and process assessments.
  • Meet all group reporting requirements and participate in relevant group forums.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure packaging standards are met and bottling performance is protected.
  • Ensure product quality through robust testing protocols and tasting panel management.
  • Ensure laboratory, vatting, and bottling quality equipment is calibrated in line with ISO requirements.
  • Manage site-wide Quality and Food Safety programs, including documentation, tracking, actioning, and reporting.
  • Verify HACCP plans and ensure compliance with all site policies and procedures.
  • Manage quality and food safety risks, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders understand and comply with management systems and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and critical supply issues.
  • Lead the execution of HACCP, internal audits, hygiene programs, and other core quality processes.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation are updated to reflect improved methodologies.
  • Manage IT systems supporting Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental Management (e.g., Entropy, SharePoint, MES).

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, develop, and coach a high‑performing Quality team, promoting consistent performance, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Support team performance management, coaching, and development planning.
  • Model inclusive leadership and support engagement across functions.

Safety, Environment & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and quality legislation and procedures.
  • Promote safe behaviours and model compliance in daily operations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes.
  • Ensure all environment, food safety, and quality risks are identified and appropriately managed.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • BSc Degree in Food Science and/or Quality Management (Food).
  • Certified qualifications in ISO Management Systems.
  • Proven experience managing Quality in a manufacturing environment, ideally within Food and Beverage.
  • Experience leading teams, including coaching and development.
  • Strong problem‑solving and process improvement capability.
  • Strong financial and operational awareness.

Desired

  • Environmental qualifications or experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years’ management experience in a manufacturing Quality function (Food & Beverage desirable).
