Description

Overview At PM Group, our vision is to work with our clients to build a more sustainable world. To do that we hire the best talent with specialist skills and right now we want to hire an Energy Modeller to join our team. This role can be based from our Cork, Dublin or Poland offices and we have a hybrid work model. In this role, you will focus on delivering high‑quality building performance simulations using IES Virtual Environment (IES VE) to support sustainable, efficient, and compliant design across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will contribute to interesting projects across Ireland, Europe, the United States, and Asia, primarily within the Life Sciences and Data Centre sectors. We'd love to hear from you if you'd like to join our specialist Environment and Sustainability service team to help our clients to achieve their ESG / Sustainability goals and science based reduction targets. Responsibilities We are very interested in hearing from all candidates who have the following experience: Building Performance Simulation Develop detailed building energy models using IES VE, including geometry creation, thermal modelling, HVAC simulation, and daylight analysis. Conduct dynamic thermal modelling (DTM) to assess overheating, comfort, and energy performance to comply with ASHRAE 90.1. Perform Part L compliance assessments for non‑domestic buildings in line with Irish Building Regulations. Support NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) evaluations and contribute to BER/DEC assessments where required. Advanced Modelling & Analysis Carry out CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling for airflow, ventilation, and thermal comfort assessments — experience in this area is a significant advantage. Analyse passive design strategies such as natural ventilation, solar control, and fabric optimisation. Support modelling for high‑performance environments typical of Life Sciences and Data Centre facilities, including controlled environments, heat‑load‑intensive spaces, and mission‑critical systems. Sustainability & Design Support Provide modelling insights to architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise building performance. Contribute to energy strategies, decarbonisation pathways, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., LEED, BREEAM). Evaluate renewable energy integration and low‑carbon design options. Reporting & Communication Prepare clear, concise technical reports summarising modelling assumptions, results, and recommendations. Present findings to internal and external stakeholders, including design teams and clients. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure models meet quality, audit, and project‑specific requirements. Regulatory & Industry Knowledge Stay up to date with Irish energy regulations, including Part L, TGD, NZEB standards, and SEAI methodologies. Understand international standards and sustainability frameworks relevant to global project delivery. Qualifications Degree in engineering, architecture, building services, environmental science, or a related field. Proven experience using IES VE for building energy modelling (minimum 4-5 years preferred). Strong understanding of building physics, thermal comfort, HVAC systems, and energy efficiency principles. Familiarity with Irish Building Regulations, particularly Part L and NZEB requirements. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Desirable Skills Experience with CFD modelling (e.g., using IES VE modules, Simscale, Autodesk CFD, OpenFOAM, or similar). Experience working on Life Sciences or Data Centre projects. Experience working with BIM platforms (e.g., Revit). Understanding of renewable energy systems and decarbonisation strategies. BER Assessor accreditation (non‑domestic) Why PM Group? You can find out more about how we are enabling a Net-Zero world here Inclusion and Diversity are core to our culture and values.
