Post Date : 18-Mar-2026 Close Date : 01-Apr-2026 Job Title : Clinical Tutor/ Lecturer - Obstetrics and Gynaecology Reporting To : Professor Fergal Malone, Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Nominee Location : Post available in the various locations Contract : 12 months, renewable, full time Start Date : July 2026 Objective: The principal objective of the post is to participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examinations of the undergraduate teaching program. Benefits: •     Participate in clinical courses such as ACLS, IBU and PALS and be refunded up to €450 on successful completion; (Full list of approved courses available from HR) •     Refunds available up to €450 on passing approved examinations; •     Benefit from up to 14 days Educational Leave to support participation on approved courses, exams or professional development activities •     Clinical Lecturers and Tutors are eligible for the RCSI Staff Development Programme which provides funding for Masters Level programmes - MD / MCh / MSc. (subject to some terms and conditions further information available from HR) Contract: This appointment is available for a period of one year initially, renewable to a maximum of two further years subject to satisfactory performance. Salary: €45,000 per annum for Clinical Tutor or €55,000 per annum for Clinical Lecturer. Level of appointment will depend on the successful candidates’ previous experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: •     Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the junior, intermediate and senior cycle of the four- and five-year teaching programmes •     Contributing to the assessment of students in the junior, intermediate and senior cycles of the four and five-year programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of these activities •     Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinical competence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes •     Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment •     Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals, RCSI Campus St Stephens Green, RCSI Sandyford Institute of Leadership & Healthcare Management Other responsibilities include: •     Performing Clinical Work on-site in RCSI Teaching Hospitals; Detail and commitment to be defined with relevant head of department •     Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to •     Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety •     Representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times •     Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time Candidate Specification: Essential The successful candidate should: •     Possess evidence of registration with the Irish Medical Council •     Demonstrate evidence of postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynaecology •     Possess a keen interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduate students •     Possess excellent communication skills Desirable It would be advantageous if the successful candidate had: •     Previous experience using E-learning/VLE systems •     Previous experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment •     Previous experience in research •     Completed at least 4 years of clinical experience post-internship •     MRCPI / MRCSI or equivalent Application Process Please submit your CV and covering letter no later than 1st of April 2026 Informal enquiries can be made to clinicaleducator@rcsi.com Interview Process Interviews will be held in April 2026 Additional Requirements Please note that successful candidates will be required to complete: •       Occupational Health Clearance •       Garda Vetting •       Police Clearance (if in residence outside of Ireland for periods of 6 months or more at any stage) Garda Vetting and Occ Health checks will be conducted by RCSI and partners but Police Clearance certification from countries outside of Ireland will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
