Research Assistant – Physical Activity and Health (Specified Purpose to end of Jan 2027) Vacancy I.D.: 039384 - Research Assistant – Physical Activity and Health Contract :Full-time Specified Purpose Contract up to end of January 2027 Salary :  The gross salary applicable to the post is €33,791 per annum (point one IUA Research Assistant scale). For contract durations of less than 12 months, the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis A research assistant is required with the Department of Sport and Exercise Science to work on two specific research projects. The role will be split between the two projects outlined below. Men United: Men United is a 12-week football-based physical activity intervention designed for men in Ireland following a prostate cancer diagnosis. It aims to improve physical function, psychosocial wellbeing, and social connectedness among prostate cancer survivors by providing structured, community-based football sessions delivered twice weekly.The role is embedded within a multidisciplinary environment that includes exercise scientists, clinicians, cancer support organisations, and community sports partners. The Research Assistant will play a central role in ensuring high-quality programme delivery, robust data management, and full compliance with the requirements of the Irish Cancer Society. Physical Activity for People with Disability Programme Evaluation: The Research Assistant will also join a programme evaluation team  evaluating the implementation and impact of programmes delivered to promote physical activity among people with disability across Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny and Laois.
