Researcher (x2): PharmaCareers Project (12 Months Specified Purpose) Vacancy I.D.: 039547 - Researcher (x2): PharmaCareers Project (12 Months Specified Purpose) Contract: 12 months Whole-Time Specified Purpose Contract Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications the successful appointees will be placed on the appropriate IUA salary scales for research staff: • If appointment is made at Research Assistant Level, the gross salary scale applicable is IUA Research Assistant Scale €33,791 - €43,872 p.a. (rate effective 01/02/2026). • If appointment is made at Postdoctoral Level, the gross salary applicable is point 1 of the IUA Postdoctoral scale PD1 €46,805 p.a. (rate effective 01/02/2026). SETU are currently seeking experienced researchers for the Research Ireland COALESCE funded PharmaCareers project. The posts are located in the Faculty of Business, Dept. of Management and Organisation in SETU (Waterford Campus) for 12-months. Applicants should have experience in independent academic research (for example research Masters, PhD research candidate or Postdoctoral research). Researchers will work within an interdisciplinary team led to organise and conduct qualitative interviews and focus groups with participants across Ireland. The PharmaCareers project will explore the enablers and barriers to sustainable long-term careers for women in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Focusing on a life course approach the research aims to build an understanding of career decision making, interactions with STEM programmes, social network mapping of skills & training programmes, and engagement with programmes for inclusivity and career support. Findings will primarily be analysed through qualitative methods in the disciplines of organisation studies, feminist and gender studies, sociomaterial studies, labour market and political economy. Researchers should be able to demonstrate experience of collecting and analysing data through qualitative methods. Additional elements of the research programme will focus on curriculum development for 3rd level science programmes and policy recommendations, while some quantitative analysis may be required. Researchers will be expected to design and lead data collection, develop data analysis frameworks, and co-write academic articles and policy documents. Successful applicants will work alongside established researchers from the Faculty of Business and Faculty of Science and Computing to achieve the aspirations of the PharmaCareers programme of work and the outputs expected from a Research Ireland COALESCE programme. This includes engagement with research dissemination and networking activities, including identifying funding pathways and writing funding proposals.
