ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM This role is for a Senior Software Engineer joining a pure modernization initiative, focused on transforming a legacy platform into a scalable, future‑ready solution using a modern technology stack. The team is replatforming an existing system to a modern, responsive UI, backed by Spring Boot–based microservices, AI‑integrated features, and a micro‑frontend architecture. The work emphasizes clean architecture, cloud‑native design, and continuous improvement through modern engineering practices. You will be part of a high‑performing, fully Agile team, collaborating closely with product, UX, and engineering peers. The role offers strong technical ownership, influence over architectural decisions, and the opportunity to shape how AI capabilities are embedded into customer‑facing experiences. Qualifications TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Minimum 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, delivering production systems using a mainstream object‑oriented language, preferably Java. Proven experience designing and building cloud‑based solutions, with strong hands‑on knowledge of cloud platforms and managed services; Microsoft Azure experience is a plus. Demonstrated experience developing AI‑powered customer features, including applying AI to real‑world product use cases. Hands‑on experience with Agentic AI systems and the design and implementation of Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES Deep expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, with a proven track record designing and delivering scalable, modular systems and microservices architectures; strong Spring Boot experience preferred. Strong experience with modern front-end development, particularly the React ecosystem, with the ability to guide UI architecture and leverage AI-assisted development to improve developer productivity and delivery velocity. Advanced understanding of cloud-native architectures and cloud services, especially managed database services, with hands-on experience designing for reliability, performance, and cost efficiency; Microsoft Azure experience is a plus. Solid exposure to data engineering and machine learning concepts, with working knowledge of Databricks and the ability to collaborate effectively with data and analytics teams.
