Senior Staff Engineer, EHS - Macroom
Summary
Lead the Environment, Health and Safety Program of a Stryker manufacturing plant by maintaining compliance with local, national and international Environment Health and Safety laws. Work with facility leadership and EHS Committee, to continually improve EHS culture and program outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provides EHS expertise and leadership to the business.
Strong EHS expertise with the ability to interpret EHS regulatory requirements.
Experience in leading cross functional project teams.
Excellent communication, problem solving, time management and Organizational skills.
Experienced in dealing with EHS regulators e.g. H.S.A., E.P.A, Local Councils etc.
Ensure compliance with all local and international EH&S laws, standards, international certifications and internal procedures.
Mentor junior EH&S personnel to assist in their professional development.
Develop, gather and trend facility EHS statistics to judge progress against industry standards as well as previous year performance.
Maintain proficiency in international, federal and state EH&S regulations to ensure regional program compliance.
Complete and submit sustainability and environmental compliance related data for the facility.
Maintenance of EHS management system in line with internal and regulatory requirements ensuring procedures and other documents are kept up to date.
Conducts regular EHS inspections and audits to monitor the effectiveness of the EHS management system and highlight any areas for attention/action.
Preparation of EHS reports/metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
Advises on EHS issues, stays abreast of evolving standards and technological solutions. Readily shares expertise with others.
Coordinates the Emergency Response Program ensuring the procedures, resources and training are in place to deal with all likely emergency scenarios on site.
Ensures a robust EHS incident investigation process is in place. Monitors incident trends identifying areas requiring action. Leads investigations as necessary.
Assesses the EHS impact of proposed changes to plant, process, equipment etc. and identifies actions to ensure compliance and risk control.
Ensures effective risk assessment and risk reduction program are in place for the site.
Monitors EHS legislation ensuring site compliance with current and future requirements as necessary.
Maintains waste management requirements and environmental monitoring program in line with license requirements
Leads EHS projects on site and/or across Ireland UK region as required and supports cross functional teams
Maintains regular interaction with site leadership to ensure alignment on priority EHS issues and plans to address same.
Promotes and supports a culture of accountability and collaboration in relation to safety and environmental performance and expectations
Manages spend in line with budget and identifies opportunities for cost savings.
Supports EHS Committee and Chairperson towards meeting local and global EHS Objectives and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Third level qualification (minimum NFQ 8) in EHS, Engineering /Science discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Proficient level EHS professional role focused on providing expertise, EHS leadership and support to the business.
EHS related professional certification(s).
Minimum of 6 years’ experience leading an EH&S Program / Organization.
Ability to build trusting relationships with front line manufacturing leaders and employees.
Experience leading a committee of employees to achieve EHS program goals.
Proven ability to lead EHS projects to successful outcome (Budget, Time, Scope).
Ability to influence behavior and facilitate decision making throughout the manufacturing plant to achieve EHS Committee and program objectives.
Ability to create and develop necessary partnerships with Stryker GQO EHS Committee members.
Skilled in public speaking and comfortable presenting complex risk data / information to senior executives or manufacturing representatives.
Strong written communication skills.
Experience collecting analyzing and presenting data to facilitate strategic decision making.
Proficient in budget line item management.
Proven ability to communicate training initiatives designed to foster a positive and proactive EH&S culture.
Proficient in data analytic tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Power BI, EXCEL).
