We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Officer on a full-time permanent basis to join our growing business. The role will be based in our head office in Waterford with flexible remote working options available.

Overall Role Objective

The Purchasing Officer is responsible for the co-ordination and management of all purchasing activities. The main objective of the position is to ensure effective purchasing and delivery of goods and services. This will be done through the establishment and rationalisation of key supplier agreements, identification of new opportunities and actively seeking and applying ways to improve efficiencies whilst ensuring legislative compliance. Additionally, the purchasing officer will be responsible for tendering processes and administration of contracts in accordance with policies, procedures and specified contract requirements.

 

What you will be doing?

  • Acquire/purchase goods and services for the company.
  • Maintain and update purchasing records/data and pricing in the system.
  • Prepare purchasing reports as necessary.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and co-ordinate the deliveries.
  • Source, select and negotiate for best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers.
  • Identify potential new suppliers where necessary.
  • Conduct complex bid process and do commercial evaluations.
  • Ensure all purchasing documents are correctly maintained and filed accordingly.
  • Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your Manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

 


Is this the job for me?

Suitable candidates must have 3+ years experience working in a procurement department

  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical products desirable
  • Knowledge/understanding of purchasing/contracting procedures and principles.
  • Customer service skills, including a high level of communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Negotiation skills essential.
  • Experience in planning, organising, prioritising and co-ordinating work in a changing environment.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills.
  • IT Skills - Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Excel and Word
