Post Summary:
The Teaching Fellow in the School of Chemistry will be responsible for supporting the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of undergraduate teaching, particularly in the practical laboratory components of the Chemistry curriculum. This role requires strong expertise in experimental chemistry and a commitment to high-quality, research-informed teaching that integrates laboratory skills, data analysis, and scientific communication. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching. This will involve the design, coordination and assessment of modules for first- and second-year (freshman) students and more specialist, research-led modules for honours students such as dissertation supervision at fourth-year level.
The Teaching Fellow will collaborate with academic, technical, and administrative colleagues to ensure that laboratory sessions are well-designed, effectively delivered, and aligned with learning outcomes across all undergraduate Chemistry programmes. This includes contributing to the preparation of teaching materials, assessments, and lab manuals; maintaining alignment with Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) accreditation standards and promoting consistency and transparency in the student learning experience
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract
Salary:
This appointment will be made on the Teaching Fellow Merged Salary Scale (€42,925– €54,680 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie). monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)

Applicants should provide a clear account of their postgraduate/postdoctoral teaching experience. To include:
1. An understanding of the delivery and deployment of learning and assessment elements for undergraduate modules is essential. The applicant should give examples of involvement in teaching, learning and assessment and what the applicant learned from the process.
2. Illustrate, through past example, their ability to work on their own initiative, demonstrate leadership and resolve problems.
Applicants who do not address these requirements in their cover letter will not be considered at the shortlisting stage.
