Post Summary The Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute (TSJCI) is Ireland’s first OECI-accredited comprehensive cancer centre , integrating clinical care, education, and research across specialties. At the National Centre for Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer at St. James’s Hospital and Trinity College Dublin, the team lead an internationally recognised clinical and research programme encompassing clinical trials, translational science, survivorship, and innovation in oesophagogastric cancer. This new post supports delivery of the IMPROVE programme ( Investigating liquid biopsy for Molecular PROfiling and surVeillance in Oesophagogastric cancer ), funded through the Irish Cancer Society , and complements an expanding portfolio of clinical and translational research in the unit - including investigator-led and industry-sponsored clinical trials in oesophageal and gastric cancer , as well as translational studies in appetite regulation, survivorship, and biomarker discovery . This Clinical Research Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination of clinical and translational research studies within the Upper GI programme at TSJCI. The role will include patient tracking, biospecimen management, clinical data integration, and research governance support across clinical trials and laboratory studies. The successful candidate will work closely with the clinical and translational science teams led by Dr Jessie Elliott , and will collaborate with researchers including Professor Jacintha O’Sullivan (Translational Oncology), Professor Joanne Lysaght (Tumour Immunology), and Dr Mark Ward (Cancer Liquid Biopsy) . The postholder will also liaise with the TSJCI Biobank , Clinical Research Facility , and Cancer Clinical Trials Office to ensure seamless delivery of the research programme. The post will also include opportunities for engagement new Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) initiatives embedded within the TSJCI, ensuring that research activities reflect patient perspectives and align with patient-centred care priorities. An optional mobility component may involve short collaborative visits or training exchanges with partner research or clinical sites, to facilitate professional development and strengthen research collaborations.
