Clinical Professorship (Honorary) at UCC School of Medicine
UCC School of Medicine recognises that contributions from medical clinicians are central to its continued success and vitality across the domains of teaching and learning, research and innovation and clinical academic leadership. In addition to the fundamental role played by these clinicians as teachers, they can and do contribute to the quality of the School's research activities, the profile of the School externally and the overall life of the University. Attributes pertinent to clinical teaching/medical education, research activity and clinical academic leadership in the promotion of scholarship within the health service, the University and the wider community, provide the focus of attention when reviewing medical clinicians (who meet the eligibility requirements set out below) presenting for consideration for appointment in this particular call.
The purpose of appointment to Clinical Professorship is to:
(a) recognise and encourage significant contribution to the University by medical clinicians;
(b) support medical clinicians who have developed and continue to sustain an academic career in parallel with their clinical responsibilities;
(c) support the ongoing development of the School of Medicine educational programmes; and
(d) maintain and develop relationships between the School of Medicine and its affiliated teaching hospitals.
