Further Vacancy Details Clinical Research Fellow - INFANT Research Centre 10 Months, Fixed Term, Whole-time Post INFANT Research Centre is now accepting applications for a Clinical Research Fellow to work on the Acumen trial which is about to start recruitment at Cork University Maternity Hospital. The Acumen trial is a multi-centre phase I dose Escalation and cohort expansion study of melatonin as an adjunct neuroprotectant agent for newborn infants with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) undergoing therapeutic hypothermia (HT) treatment. As this is the first-in-human Phase 1 multi-centre trial of melatonin in this population, the aim is to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of IV melatonin in term neonates with HIE receiving therapeutic hypothermia to inform the optimal dose to be used in future efficacy studies. The Clinical Research Fellow will be involved in all aspects of the study, including recruitment, neurological assessment, administration of IMP, performing EEG, taking and processing samples for pharmacokinetics and biomarker analysis, completion of the ecrf, involved in out-patient follow-up and ancillary projects. A flexible approach to working will be required to accommodate the recruitment and monitoring of research participants in a neonatal intensive care unit.  The Clinical Research Fellow will also support other clinical studies at the INFANT Research Centre as required.
