UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Archaeology (Western European Prehistory). Reporting to the Head of Department, this is an opportunity to join one of Ireland’s leading universities, and an academic department with over a century-long record of teaching and research in Archaeology. Applicants should have a specialist interest in Western European prehistory (Mesolithic, Neolithic, or Bronze Age). Teaching experience is essential as the appointee is required to deliver foundation and advanced courses on different aspects of Irish and European prehistory. There is also a requirement to support the development of fieldwork and work placements in the curriculum.
Candidates must hold a doctoral qualification in Archaeology from a recognised University at the time of application. They should have post-doctoral research experience and a strong record of peer-reviewed research publication. The holder of this post will be expected to support research at masters and doctoral level on different aspects of Irish and European prehistory. They are also expected to contribute to the academic environment of the Department of Archaeology, the School of the Human Environment, the College and wider University.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €42,102 - €72,452 (Scale B) / €44,169 - €68,942 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
