Position Summary
This position is for a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Human Nutrition, with experience in prospective studies among volunteers. The candidate will work in the Nutrition and Health Platform as part of the Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems and will be based full-time at University College Cork, Ireland.
The Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems is a collaboration between Irish, Northern Irish and UK Institutions who are working on a research programme to rapidly develop innovative and transformative solutions to transition the food system and position Ireland and the UK as a research and innovation global leader for positive and sustainable change in the transition to climate-neutrality by 2050.
This role will be at the Cork Centre for Vitamin D and Nutrition Research at the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University College Cork. Working with Professor Mairead Kiely, joint lead of the Co-Centre’s Nutrition and Health Platform, this role is to spearhead the development and implementation of household-based studies on diet, nutrition, sustainability and health, in collaboration with our Nutrition and Health teams at Ulster University, Queens University Belfast, University College Dublin, Leeds and Sheffield Universities.
We welcome applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Human Nutrition, with considerable experience of conducting research among volunteers, as well as expertise in dietary assessment and analysis, database construction and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• A PhD qualification in Human Nutrition.
• Considerable experience in conducting nutrition studies among human participants.
• Expertise in dietary assessment, food data, analysis and construction.
• Good communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• A highly skilled and adaptable individual with a proven ability to report to stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI
