Post Doctoral Researcher The School of Engineering and Architecture/The Cleaner Production Promotion Unit
12 Months, Fixed Term Full-Time Post
Position Summary
Applications are invited for the role of Post-Doctoral Researcher exploring the human and societal aspects of climate change and the just transition.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated individual to contribute to the JustCities Hub project funded by the Environmental Protection Agency. The project aims to re-imagine city life in a way that embraces the challenges of climate action and promotes stable, just, and healthy urban environments. This transdisciplinary project is being led by Dr Niall Dunphy, Dr Alexandra Revez, Dr Gerard Mullally, and Professor Brian Ó Gallachoir. JustCities Hub includes a wide-ranging programme of stakeholder engagements including city level state agencies, local authorities, civil society agencies, intermediaries, policymakers and residents. The project also explores and evaluates mechanisms for mobilising the development of micro-interventions, in a manner that supports, encourages, and empowers the potential and the diverse spaces of civic engagement within the city.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, with strong community research and qualitative analytical skills, and a background in climate and/or energy transition multidisciplinary research. Candidates should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively with other team members. Furthermore, they should have fluent English and excellent writing, project management, communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI
