24 Months Specific purpose, whole-time post
Applications are invited for a 24-month full-time Research Support Officer: Experimental Officer position funded by UCC. The position will provide essential technical and administrative support to the Mary Ward Microbeam Facility at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at UCC.
The Facility was purpose-built in 2017 as a high-specification facility with cutting-edge equipment for surface characterisation, including a variable pressure SEM, FTIR microscope, Raman microscope and ultramicrotome. The laboratory is a unique facility within UCC with diverse applications in materials science, bioscience, anatomy, pharmacology, food science, nanomaterials, microplastics, geoscience, art and heritage.
The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of laboratory management, including maintenance of key equipment, training and managing users, managing consumables, liaising with suppliers, conducting analyses for users where needed, method development, securing business internal to UCC and especially with users external to UCC, data management, laboratory risk assessments, laboratory waste management, record keeping and updating the laboratory website.

Appointment may be made on the Salary Scale: €49, 000 p.a. personal rate
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
