Description

Further Vacancy Details Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher-Sustainability Institute/EPMG 18 Months, Fixed-Term, Whole-Time Post Position Summary IMPACT (Indicators for Measuring Policy Actions and Climate Trends) is an EPA-funded research project that addresses a critical gap in Ireland’s climate governance: the absence of a structured, standardised approach to ex-post evaluation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions savings from implemented climate policies. The project will develop and pilot a robust, replicable, and sector-sensitive framework for quantifying realised emissions outcomes across key policy domains, aligned with EU reporting requirements and national Climate Action Plan and NECP processes. IMPACT combines quantitative modelling, decomposition analysis, and policy evaluation with close stakeholder collaboration to ensure methodological credibility and institutional relevance. The successful candidate will play a central technical role in IMPACT, leading the development and application of ex-post evaluation methods across multiple work packages. Responsibilities will include data review and gap analysis, decomposition and simulation modelling using tools such as LEAP Ireland, and supporting the design, testing, and validation of policy-relevant indicators and sectoral templates. The role also involves close engagement with government stakeholders, contribution to methodological guidance and policy outputs, and active involvement in dissemination, capacity-building, and project coordination activities within the Energy Policy and Modelling Group. Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI’s.  This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.  Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association Project Title: Indicators for Measuring Policy Actions and Climate Trends (IMPACT) Post Duration: 18 Months, Whole-Time Salary: €54,850 - €59,654 p.a.
