Research Engineer, School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering, Until 10 March 2027 Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Engineer within School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering. Research Engineer with expertise in structural mechanics and advanced mechanical system modelling to support research into complex, compact, and high-performance engineered systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of predictive numerical models and experimentally validated designs for intricate mechanical assemblies, deployable structures, compliant mechanisms, and compact load-bearing systems operating under multi-physics conditions. This role will bridge theoretical structural mechanics, computational modelling, and laboratory validation to produce publication-quality research outputs and industry-relevant design methodologies. The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical or Structural Engineer with experience in nonlinear analysis, complex contact mechanics, and mechanism design for compact or high-precision systems. Salary: €45,000 - €51,000 per annum . Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 12/03/2026 .
