Description
Research Software Engineer, UCD School of Computer Science, Fixed term post until 22nd March 2027
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Software Engineer within UCD School of Computer Science.
The purpose of this project is to develop a collaborative annotating/labelling tool to be integrated with the ESA Destination Earth (DestinE) platform. The tool will provide an efficient collaborative environment for generating useful information (in the form of labels) that can be associated with Sentinel satellite observations and climate simulation data in order to facilitate the development and deployment of AI models as well as advanced semantic queries. Existing labelling solutions are suboptimal for labelling Destination Earth (DestinE) data due to their lack of integration with other services within the DestinE platform and their lack of support for important data available in DestinE (e.g., multispectral imagery and multidimensional array).
The project is carried out in collaboration with EMC Information Systems International (Dell Technologies) and is funded by the European Space Agency under the DestinE program, therefore the proposed labelling environment will align with DestinE’s architecture. The environment will be designed to support collaborative data labelling, enabling multiple users to contribute simultaneously to the same labelling project.
We now seek to hire exceptional research software engineers who will contribute to the design and development of this state-of-the-art tool.
Salary: €50,000 - €60,000 per annum
