Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Fellow within UCD School of Medicine/Systems Biology Ireland.
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to lead a programme of work on immune approaches to difficult-to-treat peritoneal carcinomatosis (PCM). The programme focusses on elucidation molecular mechanisms of immune suppression in PCM and the identification of new drug targets and treatments that can overcome it. Based within the Research Groups of Prof Walter Kolch and Prof Donal Brennan in Systems Biology Ireland (SBI) at UCD, the Fellow will contribute to the ambitious Precision Oncology Ireland (POI) Programme, which is coordinated by SBI and brings together researchers across multiple institutions.
The role requires (1) substantial experience in immunology, cancer, pharmacology, and signal transduction; (2) hands on experience in immune cell isolation and culture, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and biochemical methods for the analysis of cell signaling; and (3) experience in supervising research staff, project management, and evidence of independent problem-solving in complex research projects.
The purpose of the role is to deliver a specific research project. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement and render themselves competitive for tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry.
Fixed Salary: €65,889 Per Annum
