Site Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Mobile (Cavanhill and Greenmount, Co. Louth will be initial projects)
Duration: Permanent
Work Hours/Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.30pm
Overview of the Role:
Due to continued success and growth across the Water division, we are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) Team as a Site Engineer. The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Project Manager in coordinating a multi disciplined team to include process/mechanical/civil/structural/electrical work associated with various Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.
The Site Engineer will have responsibility for assisting in the on-site delivery and construction of water and wastewater treatment contracts from detailed design stage through to installation, testing and commissioning. Collaborating with the Project Manager in the implementation of delivery documentation including technical submissions, managing sub-contractor activities on site, ensuring regulatory Health & Safety compliance, overseeing installation works, and coordinating construction activities.
During the delivery stage the Site Engineer will liaise with design teams and suppliers, manage subcontractors, installation personnel and commissioning teams on site to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Ensure all equipment is delivered, installed, tested and ultimately commissioned in accordance with contractual requirements.
Day to Day of the Role:
Take ownership of delegated site activities and project issues
Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
Ensure adherence to Veolia’s QHSE standards on site
Liaison with Client and Client Representatives on site matters
Communicate with the Project Manager, Design Leads and Sub-Consultants during the execution of the project
Interact with our multi-disciplined engineering team, overseeing equipment installation and commissioning activities on site
Organising, co-coordinating and managing site activities while maintaining H&S in line with Veolia standards
Managing aspects of the project within defined budgets and agreed timelines through monitoring and tracking for adherence with the project brief and programme
Apply procedures in place related to contract execution and site operations
Provide site supervision cover for the construction site manager in the event of their absence
Manage all site-based operatives, overseeing all aspects of their work including carrying out safety inductions, tool box talks, controlling the quality of work, ensuring method statement and order fulfilment, cleanliness and tidiness, the use of plant and tools, the reduction of waste and use of PPE
Required Skills for the Role:
Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in an Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferable) and/or Science Discipline
Practical site experience (Essential)
Practical experience in being part of a project team from design stages to delivery stage
Managing site activities including team coordination
Ability to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate site activities
Experience in the execution of water/wastewater engineering projects is desirable
IT skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point
Good organisational and time management skills
Self-motivated
Strong communication and writing skills
