Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to define, design, and guide the delivery of modern, scalable, and secure technology solutions. This role involves shaping target architectures, establishing technology standards, and ensuring that customer solutions adhere to best practices and enterprise-wide architectural principles. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
- Define target architecture for specific business or technical domains, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
- Design and select architecture patterns across areas such as APIs, integration frameworks, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Establish standards, guidelines, and reference architectures for newly adopted technologies and platforms.
- Architect and design Java-based enterprise solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Solution Governance & Oversight
- Conduct architecture reviews of proposed solutions to ensure compliance with best practices and alignment with the customer’s Reference Architecture.
- Provide architectural leadership during application modernisation, including migration of monolithic systems to microservice-based architectures.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure solutions are implemented according to design specifications.
Research & Evaluation
- Lead technology evaluations and product research, assessing market offerings to meet customer requirements.
- Recommend tools, frameworks, and technology stacks that strengthen the organisation’s technology strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate complex architectural concepts in a clear and compelling manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Influence and guide senior IT stakeholders, helping them make informed technology and investment decisions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect, ideally within enterprise-scale or customer-facing environments.
- Strong background designing and implementing Java-based applications and enterprise-level solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in application modernisation, including re-platforming or refactoring large monolithic systems into microservices.
- Hands-on knowledge of containerised platforms such as Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Strong understanding of API design, integration patterns, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience developing architecture standards, guidelines, and technical governance frameworks.
- Ability to perform technology research and comparative evaluations based on customer needs.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving architectural decisions.
Desirable
- Experience in GIS technologies, such as ArcGIS or GeoServer.
- Exposure to cloud-native patterns and distributed system design across platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
