Field Service Engineer – UPS (Ireland)
Location: Ireland – Field based
Approx. 80% Dublin / Leinster, 20% nationwide travel (Cork, Limerick, etc.)
Schedule: Full-time, with participation in an on-call rota and out-of-hours support as required.

About the Role
Vertiv is hiring a Field Service Engineer – UPS to join our expanding Service Operations team in Ireland.
In this field-based role, you will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and emergency repair of Vertiv’s industry-leading Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, battery systems, power distribution equipment, and monitoring solutions.
You will act as the face of Vertiv on-site, delivering high-quality technical service while building strong customer relationships and ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company and legislative standards.
This role offers excellent exposure to mission-critical environments including data centres, healthcare, financial services, and industrial facilities, along with opportunities for travel across Ireland and occasionally internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond professionally to planned preventive maintenance and emergency service calls.
- Perform commissioning, maintenance, fault finding, and repair activities on UPS systems and associated equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with ISO processes, company policies, codes of practice, and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Deliver high standards of technical service while meeting agreed service level targets.
- Complete job closures, service reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicate effectively with scheduling teams regarding job status and changes.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, providing technical advice and support.
- Identify and report potential sales or service opportunities.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and test equipment to a high standard.
- Participate in the on-call rota and support out-of-hours service requirements.
- Work collaboratively within the service team to support wider business objectives.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in field service or testing of electrical/electronic equipment (UPS experience desirable).
- Strong technical understanding of UPS topology and power systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, plan workloads, and manage time effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Clean, valid driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting in line with safety guidelines.
Desirable:
- Experience working in critical environments such as data centres.
- Knowledge of battery systems and power distribution.
- A proactive, safety-first mindset.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role with regular travel across Ireland. You’ll be supported with structured product training, certification on Vertiv UPS systems, modern tools, and the backing of a collaborative, safety-focused service team.
