Lead PM, Program/Project Manager – Embedded Software

Analog Devices’ Software & Digital Platforms (SDP) group is seeking an experienced Senior Program/Project Manager with deep embedded software experience to oversee complex programs for next‑generation MCU and SoC products. The successful candidate will lead programs across the full product development lifecycle—spanning firmware, drivers, RTOS components, bootloaders, low‑level I/O, and SoC/MCU enablement—while driving disciplined execution and alignment between embedded software, silicon, hardware, validation, systems, and customer‑facing teams.

This position requires strong technical understanding of embedded systems and semiconductor development, exceptional leadership, a proactive management approach, and the ability to collaborate across highly technical, multi‑disciplinary teams. ADI thrives on positive, transparent, and solutions‑oriented engagement—this role requires exactly that.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7–10 years of hands‑on Program/Project/TPM experience managing embedded software programs (firmware, drivers, RTOS, BSP, low‑level SW)—not enterprise IT or cloud programs.
  • Strong technical foundation with experience in several of the following:
    • Firmware and driver development (Linux, bare‑metal, HAL)
    • RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, embOS, VxWorks
    • Bootloaders, BSP, secure boot, low‑level peripheral drivers
    • Power/clock management, SoC initialization, hardware bring‑up
  • Experience working with MCUs, SoCs, ASICs, DSPs, wireless chipsets (Wi‑Fi/BT/Cellular), ADAS controllers, PMICs or mixed‑signal products.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor development, including silicon readiness milestones and post‑silicon validation workflows.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision‑making, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a strong execution track record working with large multi‑discipline engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Hands‑on engineering background—experience writing embedded software, developing firmware/drivers, designing silicon blocks, or contributing to hardware board/system design.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems through structured experiments and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with modern PM tools: MS Project, Confluence, JIRA, Jama/JAMA Connect.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical and program information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple embedded programs, prioritize effectively, and drive aggressive schedules.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes for combined silicon + firmware programs.
  • Positive attitude, proactive, self‑motivated, and accountable.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience in customer‑facing technical roles supporting embedded or silicon products.
  • PMP and/or Scrum Master Certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and drive large‑scale embedded software programs to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Lead Agile project management processes, collaborating closely with firmware, drivers, RTOS, silicon design, hardware engineering, validation, applications, and systems teams to ensure aligned and predictable delivery.
  • Drive alignment between firmware and silicon milestones (ES samples, EVT/DVT/PVT, bring‑up timelines, post‑silicon validation).
  • Proactively identify and manage risks in embedded SW and silicon‑software integration; drive solutions before they impact the project.
  • Manage matrixed engineering resources across multiple projects, optimizing team efficiency, clarity, and productivity.
  • Define and track embedded‑centric KPIs and program metrics, providing clear reporting and updates to senior engineering leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying best practices and standardized processes to enhance execution discipline and engineering efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and engineering standards throughout project execution.
  • Drive retrospectives and lessons‑learned activities across all technical disciplines.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is results‑driven, technically credible, and self‑motivated, with a strong background in embedded software program management. You began your career as an embedded engineer—writing firmware, developing drivers, integrating RTOS/BSP layers, or supporting SoC bring‑up—and then moved into program management. You are typically the most structured and organized person in the room, able to connect technical details with program realities, and you know how to get the right things done on time.
