The Red Hat Secure Flow Cloud Group is looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to gain hands-on experience with open source and Red Hat products during an internship to join us as a Software Engineer Intern. In this role, You will contribute to the development and enhancement of crucial Integration services and Operator gating and release services that power the secure software supply chain, which forms the backbone of Red Hat's productization and release processes. As part of your internship, you will not only be working with a set of diverse, high-functioning individuals spanning APAC, EMEA, and North America, you will be exposed to the internal workings of how Red Hat builds, tests and releases products. Your work environment may range from developing software using Python, Ansible, Bash, Go to use of Red Hat’s Internal Tooling and Public Cloud APIs, Kubernetes/OpenShift/Tekton/ArgoCD as integration technologies of choice.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, full-time internship based at the respective RH offices (Cork, Waterford, Dublin), with flexible working hours. The expected start date is June 2026.

What you will do:

  • Deliver functional enhancements or tasks and effectively solves problems within assigned components

  • Learn, understand and follow related processes

  • Communicate within a team and cross-functionally with peers, stakeholders, and upstream community members by applying the value of transparency by making their daily work visible. Be open to feedback. Be aware of the accepted behavioral and communication norms

  • Report progress regularly to internal customers when fixing bugs, shares own design and research work with internal customers

What you will bring:

  •  You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from June till December 2026

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English

  • Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system (any distribution) 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Coding experience in languages like Python, Java or Go

  • Knowledge of Agile Scrum practices

  • With some guidance, able to network and build connections with the immediate team, and is eager to learn and help 

The following are considered a plus:

  • Previous code contributions to or participation in open source projects or code samples on GitHub.

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Podman or Bash scripting
