The Role
This role leads the commercial strategy and growth of our Agency Brands portfolio, driving sales through strong brand leadership, effective promotions, and best‑in‑class ranging. Working closely with Retail, Operations, and Marketing, the role ensures planogram execution, clear communication of commercial strategies, and strong supplier relationships to deliver JBP targets. It involves analysing category performance, localising global brand strategies, supporting symbol and franchise partners, pitching to win new business, and contributing to the daily running of the Commercial Agency team ensuring sales, margin, stock, and pricing targets are met.
- Development of the commercial strategy for our Agency Brands
- Lead the Brand Team, drive sales of the agency portfolio
- To represent Consumer team at the weekly trade meetings and to be an active participant.
- Working closely with the retail team to source and range best in class products and promotions.
- Develop and execute a very clear vison strategy for the growth of the Agency brands portfolio ,aligned with the groups ambitions
- Reviewing category performance and providing insights to our management team
- Ensure the roll-out of planograms and associated support documents
- Actively driving cross-selling, working closely with our Operations team
- Responsible for the communication of all commercial strategies to our Operations team
- Developing & managing supplier relationships in order to deliver JBP and planogram compliance
- Use of the BI reporting suite to provide greater insights into category and range performance to help support decision-making.
- To be a representative of the Consumer team at trade shows & supplier events
- Work closely with the Operations team to develop our relationship with our symbol & franchise members to support driving their business.
- Localise and implement global brands strategies across Ireland
- Lead pitch to win new business for the brands to deliver sustainable growth though increase rate of sales and distribution
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the day to day running of the Commercial Agency team
- Ensuring our group sales, margin & JBP budgets are achieved
- Responsible for stock of our Healthcare categories in owned estate, managing dead/over/dated stock and supporting the stores with sell through as required
- Updating the Commercial Director regularly on department development
- Taking an active role in the weekly commercial team meetings
- Ensuring suppliers are met in a timely manner and prioritized according to importance
- Ensuring all retail pricing is aligned with department margin targets & market pricing on the database
- Ensure database team have all relevant supplier & pricing information for categories
- Building a robust promotions calendar, encompassing JBP agreements
- Development of the category plans & strategies
- Ensuring planograms are updated based on schedule
- Attending trade shows where appropriate
- Contributing relevant information for board packs
- Ensuring Consumer and Agency strategies are communicated through our channels
- Attending Trade meetings weekly
- Work with the Marketing team to deliver viable campaigns for the market
Key Skills & Experiences
- Minimum 2+ years in a similar buying role
- Pharmacy buying experience desirable
- Excellent numerical & analytical skills to include excellent computer literacy & comprehensive experience with all MS products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc
- Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to engage teams and drive high performance
