Commercial Strategy and Category Management

  • Lead the development of the commercial strategy for the Skin , Baby and Christmas categories
  • Develop and manage the promotional cycles across all categories.
  • Partner with the Consumer team to source and range best in-class products for the market.
  • Review category performance and provide actionable insights to the management team.
  • Ensure timely rollout of planograms and all associated support documents.
  • Build and manage supplier relationships to deliver JBP commitments and planogram compliance.
  • Utilise the BI reporting suite to generate insights into category and range performance to support decision-making.
  • Represent the Consumer team at weekly trade meetings, trade shows, and supplier events.
  • Work closely with Operations to drive cross-selling initiatives and support symbol and franchise members in growing their business.
  • Communicate all commercial strategies effectively to the Operations team.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the day to day running of the Commercial buying team
  • Ensure our group sales, margin & JBP budgets are achieved
  • Manage stock levels across Healthcare categories in the owned estate, including dead, excess, and dated stock, and support store teams with sell-through activity.
  • Provide regular updates to the Commercial Director on departmental progress.
  • Play an active role in weekly commercial meetings.
  • Schedule and prioritise supplier meetings based on business importance.
  • Ensure retail pricing aligns with margin targets and market benchmarks.
  • Provide the database team with all relevant supplier and pricing information.
  • Build a robust promotional calendar incorporating JBP commitments.
  • Develop category plans and long‑term strategies.
  • Maintain and update planograms according to the planned schedule.
  • Attend trade shows as required.
  • Provide relevant inputs for board packs.
  • Ensure all Buying strategies are clearly communicated across internal channels.
  • Attend weekly trade meetings as a representative of the Buying/Consumer function.

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar buying role.
  • Pharmacy buying experience is desirable.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, diverse environment.
