We are seeking experienced Field Technicians to support a large-scale optical network migration programme. Working alongside remote engineering and project teams, the successful candidates will provide on-site support during migration activities, assisting with equipment installation, cabling, fibre management, testing and commissioning to ensure successful service migrations.
The role requires experience working within live telecommunications environments and the ability to support planned maintenance windows with minimal disruption to customer services.
Responsibilities
Migration Support
Provide on-site support during planned migration activities.
Assist remote engineers during implementation and service cutovers.
Carry out pre- and post-migration physical inspections.
Support equipment replacement and hardware swaps where required.
Verify equipment status, alarms and LED indications.
Perform physical rollback activities if required.
Fibre & Cabling
Install, remove and manage fibre patching.
Verify fibre routing and connectivity.
Clean and inspect fibre connectors.
Perform fibre tracing and labelling.
Maintain cable management to industry standards.
Testing & Commissioning
Support pre-implementation testing.
Perform optical power measurements.
Validate fibre continuity.
Assist with service verification and acceptance testing.
Record test results and provide implementation updates.
Documentation
Update rack layouts and patch records.
Record equipment serial numbers and asset information.
Produce site implementation reports.
Capture installation photographs where required.

Educational Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience working within telecommunications or optical transport networks.
Experience working in live network environments.
Ability to interpret rack layouts, cable schedules and implementation plans.
Experience handling and testing fibre optic cabling.
Familiarity with optical power meters, Visual Fault Locators (VFLs) and fibre cleaning procedures.
Strong health and safety awareness.
Willingness to travel and work flexible maintenance windows
