Project Worker, Advice & Information, Dublin
Location: Dublin - Various Locations
Contract: Full Time, 2-Year Fixed Term Contracts Available
The purpose of this role is to work as part of Focus Ireland’s National Advice and Information Service, to deliver a dedicated advice, advocacy and support service to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
What you will do:
Provide information, advice, and advocacy on housing, legal rights, and social welfare entitlements to individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Undertake assessments and develop and implement support plans based on individual needs.
Liaise and advocate with relevant statutory authorities to support service users.
Manage an active caseload and contribute to an open‑access service (drop‑in, phone, and email).
Refer individuals to appropriate external agencies to ensure their needs are effectively met.
Work under the direction of line management and within the overall objectives of Focus Ireland.
Work both independently and as part of a team, providing daily support to the wider National Advice & Information Service.
Adopt a client‑centred approach, promoting autonomy and independence.
Maintain accurate records and statistics in line with Focus Ireland policies and procedures.
Attend team, section, and agency meetings, and engage in regular supervision and reflective practice.
Participate in relevant training and professional development as agreed with line management.
Comply with all policies, including health, safety, and welfare requirements, and undertake additional duties as assigned.
What you will need:
Relevant third level degree in the area of social care i.e. youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology, law /or be a CORU registered Social Care Worker
At least 2 years’ experience in the social care field working with vulnerable people with high risk and challenging behaviour.
A working knowledge of issues affecting people out-of-home and their impact on people and their physical, emotional and psychological development/status.
Experience of dealing with child protection and welfare responsibilities and responding appropriately to any concerns.
Experience in carrying out assessments, including risk assessments.
Experience in developing support plans and carrying out reviews.
A working knowledge of services in the homeless sector (desirable).
