ROLE:

The Commissioning Engineer will report to the Service Director and be assigned their workload by the Service Managers. He/she will be involved throughout planned outages testing primary and secondary assets. He/she will have the ability to lead a team or work as part of a team, he/she will also act as a mentor for more junior members of the Service Division.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out electrical testing on primary and secondary equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
  • Possess the skills to carry out troubleshooting on HV electrical systems.
  • Ensures any required site modifications are completed and validate as-built drawings.
  • Completion of commissioning and test documentation for any new/replacement control and protection equipment installed.
  • Configuration of Overcurrent, earth fault, G10, differential protection relays, Power quality meters, and other substation automation systems.
  • Provides declaration of fitness when commissioning is complete.
  • Creating fault reports to be issued to clients.
  • Adhere to weekly schedule.
  • Assist graduate engineers and apprentices with their development.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • 5 years’ + relevant industry experience
  • Flexibility/Adaptability
  • IT Literacy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good understanding of electrical schematics.
  • An enthusiastic approach, being self-motivated and well-organised
  • A significant understanding of health and safety procedures in the working environment
  • Operational experience with Omicron test equipment and other protection test equipment
