About the Role:
The Sustainability Reporting Specialist will lead the preparation, governance, and disclosure of non-financial data in strict compliance with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other internationally recognized sustainability reporting frameworks. This role requires a unique hybrid professional with a solid grounding in financial reporting controls who can execute ESRS-compliant Double Materiality Assessments while simultaneously aligning disclosures with major international sustainability standards. You will ensure our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics possess the same audit-ready rigor as our financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
- CSRD Compliance & Reporting: Lead the design and execution of H&MV’s reporting framework under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
- Double Materiality Assessments: Drive the end-to-end double materiality process, mapping impacts, risks, and opportunities (IROs) across global operations and assessing both inside-out (impact) and outside-in (financial) materiality.
Global Framework Alignment: Manage disclosures and align corporate strategies with prominent international frameworks, including CDP questionnaires, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) monitoring, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB/IFRS S1 & S2), and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and other internationally recognized sustainability frameworks.
- Financial & Non-Financial Integration: Establish robust accounting-style control environments, data workflows, and reconciliation procedures for ESG metrics to guarantee external assurance readiness.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate cross-departmental workshops with Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Operations, and the internal ESG Committee to gather audit-ready data.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors providing limited and reasonable assurance over non-financial disclosures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainable Finance, Business, or a related quantitative field. An additional qualification in Sustainability/ESG reporting is highly desirable.
Experience: 6-8 years of professional experience, ideally split between corporate financial auditing/reporting (e.g., Big 4, plc or large corporate background) and ESG compliance.
- Core Expertise: Demonstrated experience executing or heavily contributing to a Double Materiality Assessment and an in-depth understanding of the CSRD/ESRS architecture.
Framework Knowledge: Proven experience or strong familiarity with international disclosure platforms and standards such as CSRD, CDP, SBTi, ISSB (IFRS S1 & S2), and TNFD (or its predecessor TCFD).
Skills: Exceptional data analysis capabilities, independent worker, familiarity with internal control frameworks (like SOX or equivalent financial controls), and strong project management skills.
Industry Context: Knowledge of the engineering, construction, or renewable energy supply chain is an advantage.
