As we continue our journey toward becoming Ireland’s most trusted and sustainable business, we have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Financial Control team as a Finance Acquisitions Accountant.

Role Purpose:

  • Lead the Financial Control store churn acquisition workstream in line with our Strategy.

  • Integrate retail store acquisitions into Musgrave ways of working, improving controls, eliminating risk and aligning processes where appropriate.

  • Strong partnership with the acquired Finance teams in all aspects of onboarding and integration.

  • Support the Retail Finance team and Financial Control Team.

  • Provide business partnering support during month end, delivering analysis and insight on financial performance.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Lead the financial control workstream for acquiring retail stores, serving as the primary financial control contact throughout the store lifecycle in Musgrave.

  • Coordinate the onboarding of acquired stores into the company's financial ecosystem, facilitating integration with either company-owned stores or third-party retailers.

  • Assist with forecasts, budgets, and the completion and consolidation of the three-year plan (3YP) for acquisitions, including capital expenditure.

  • Support the hard close process, including inputs into controls and hard close papers, advising management on risks within acquisition entities and recommending appropriate mitigations.

  • Lead the compliance agenda for all acquired retail entities, coordinating audits, preparing financial statements, and supporting other aspects of the entity lifecycle.

  • Support relevant stakeholders in technical accounting related to restructures, wind downs, divestments where appropriate.

  • Build relationships with relevant members of acquired teams including occasional travel to stores.

  • Collaborate with non-finance teams as required to support the acquisition agenda.

  • Monitor performance against budget and forecast, highlighting variances and driving corrective actions where required.

  • Support projects within the Financial Control and Retail finance team as needed.

What we are looking for: 

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification with a minimum of 3 years PQE.

  • Experience of managing or working on all multidisciplinary aspects of a legal entity, including financial reporting, tax compliance, regulatory adherence, internal controls and technical accounting.

  • Experience of working in a dynamic environment, with a track-record of delivering high quality results to tight deadlines.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills with ability to build relationships, internally, externally, and cross functionally.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

  • Project management and change management skills with a drive for process and systems excellence.

  • A self-motivated approach to work - can do attitude, well organised to effectively prioritise and deliver high quality results.​​​​​​
