Join Musgrave – Empowering Communities, Innovating the Future

We're proud to serve communities across Ireland and Spain, feeding one in three people every day through 19 iconic brands like SuperValu, Centra, Mace, Frank and Honest, and Musgrave MarketPlace. By supporting thousands of retail and foodservice family businesses, we make a positive impact on the communities they serve. We're committed to becoming the most trusted and sustainable business in Ireland, and we're looking for dynamic, forward-thinking individuals to join us on this journey
As part of continued investment in modern data and digital capabilities, Musgrave is building a cloud‑based, enterprise‑scale data platform to support operational, analytical and future AI‑driven use cases.
We are seeking a Senior Technical Programme Manager – Data Platforms to provide end‑to‑end delivery leadership for this initiative. Reporting to the Head of IT, Data & Analytics, the role is accountable for delivering complex data engineering and platform programmes in partnership with technical teams, business stakeholders and external delivery partners.
Work location is flexible in the republic of Ireland. We have offices in Cork and Dublin. Work Smart hybrid work arrangement applies for this role. Some travel to Cork will be required.
What you'll be doing
-
Lead the delivery of enterprise‑scale data platform and data engineering programmes, from initiation through to production readiness.
-
Own and maintain programme plans, milestones, dependency maps, critical paths, risks and issues.
-
Act as the central delivery coordinator across engineering, platform, operations and business teams, ensuring clarity of scope, sequencing and accountability.
-
Work closely with data architects and platform leads to ensure delivery aligns with agreed architectural standards and design principles (architecture‑literate, not architecture‑owning).
-
Manage delivery with external vendors and partners, driving transparency, accountability and predictable execution.
-
Ensure all solutions are production‑ready, including operational processes, documentation, handover and service readiness.
-
Coordinate release, cutover and stabilisation activities.
-
Provide clear, concise delivery updates to senior technical and business stakeholders, supporting informed decision‑making through transparent reporting on progress, risks and trade‑offs.
Success in the role will be demonstrated through high‑quality, on‑time delivery of data platform capabilities, strong stakeholder confidence in delivery governance, and solutions that meet agreed operational, performance and availability standards
What we're looking for
-
Significant experience delivering large‑scale technical or data programmes in complex enterprise environments.
-
A strong background in technical programme or project management within data, analytics, platform or engineering domains.
-
Proven experience coordinating multi‑stream deliveries across internal teams and external delivery partners.
-
Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments, bringing structure and clarity to complex problems.
-
Strong vendor and partner delivery management experience.
-
A solid understanding of modern data platforms and data engineering concepts, with the ability to engage credibly with engineers and architects.
-
Experience working with modern cloud data platforms and contemporary integration patterns (e.g. batch, micro‑batch, streaming, APIs).
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at senior levels.
-
Strong judgement around risk identification, mitigation and delivery trade‑offs, balancing short‑term delivery pressures with long‑term platform health.
-
A calm, pragmatic and delivery‑focused mindset.
Qualifications
-
A third‑level qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
-
Desirable qualifications include ITIL and/or Lean Six Sigma
