Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Report to: The People & Culture Department

Location: Manufacturing Facility- Timahoe (Co. Kildare) /Rathowen (Co. Westmeath)

Type: Part‑time (3 days per week or defined hours)

 

Role Overview

The part time Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) will play a key role in delivering statutory and proactive occupational health services, ensuring compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, and fostering a culture of wellbeing and resilience.

 

Clinical & Occupational Health Oversight

  • Conduct pre-employment health assessments and medical screenings.
  • Perform fitness for work evaluations and return to work assessments.
  • Conduct periodic health surveillance as appropriate to workplace exposure and specific job roles.
  • Provide first aid response as well as support to onsite first aiders.
  • Maintain accurate confidential health records in compliance with GDPR and HSA standards.

 

Compliance & Workplace Safety

  • Support employer obligations under Irish health and safety legislation.
  • Assist with occupational health hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Contribute medical insight to occupational health investigations.

 

Employee Wellbeing & Advisory Support

  • Promote wellbeing programs
  • Provide health education and ergonomic advice.
  • Advise sensitive risk groups
  • Produce a quarterly mental health newsletter

 

Community and Culture Building

  • Participate in quarterly OHN meetups and peer learning sessions.
  • Promote access to external support services
  • Collaborate with EHS Team, Safety Committee and Safety Reps to promote a holistic safety culture.

 

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare OH reports as required.
  • Manage schedules within part‑time hours.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently.
  • High confidentiality standards.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN).
  • OH qualification desirable.
  • Industrial experience preferred.
