Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position within the UCC Futures Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics and the School of Computer Science and Information Technology. The researcher will be employed on the EaseTalk project. The successful candidate will be working with a team of researchers on a range of topics, including medical applications, mobile app development, large language models and experience in developing solutions for therapists. The candidate will be located on University College Cork’s campus.
The Research Assistant will join an interdisciplinary initiative focused on developing AI-driven solutions to support modern therapy. The role will involve the design and development of mobile applications, integration of AI models (including large language models), and collaboration with domain experts such as therapists and clinical partners. The successful candidate will contribute to both the technical development and evaluation of innovative digital health solutions, ensuring usability, reliability, and alignment with relevant regulatory requirements.
The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, with a good track record of mobile application development and their integration. Ideally, they will have experience in specific mobile applications in the medical domain, their relative regulatory environment, and their commercialisation. Experience with multidisciplinary teams is an asset.
A budget for travel, equipment, publications and other research expenses is available as part of the project. The research group leading this project is championed by Dr Andrea Visentin in UCC aimed at developing an AI solution to support therapy. The hired researcher will be encouraged to collaborate with other members of the group both inside and outside of UCC.
The group is part of the School of Computer Science and Information Technology and the UCC Futures- Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics, and the project is hosted by Dr Andrea Visentin.

Appointment may be made on the Research Assistant IUA Salary Scale: €33,791 - €43,872
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
