Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Director of Nursing Strategic HR provides senior nursing leadership to design, deliver and assure an integrated, sustainable and digitally enabled nursing workforce model for Children's Health Ireland. The role leads strategic nursing workforce planning across CHI, aligned with service demand, population needs, and the future children’s hospital operating model. Working in close partnership with Nursing leadership, HR, and Finance. The post holder ensures that workforce decisions are informed by robust workforce intelligence, modelling and evidence. The role supports the Chief Director of Nursing and executive nursing leadership by providing high-quality workforce analytics, forecasting and assurance by enabling proactive, data driven decision making that supports staffing, recruitment and retention, effective skill mix, and workforce sustainability and high quality child and family centered care now and into the future .

The post holder plays a key leadership role in embedding national workforce intelligence and digital health capabilities into nursing workforce planning. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Information Officer and Digital health teams, the role ensures that workforce systems, data standards and digital tools effectively support establishment control, safe staffing frameworks, retention monitoring and future workforce modeling.

Eligibility criteria, qualifications and experience

· Candidates must be registered in the Children’s division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

· Post graduate qualification in a management or HR related subject at minimum Level 8 or higher maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI), or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.

· Have at least 10 years post registration nursing experience and 5 years nursing leadership experience at a minimum of CNM 2 level.

· Experience of Nursing HR and evidence of developing a comprehensive approach to nursing workforce and recruitment and retention of nursing staff.

· Possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties required.
