Remuneration

The salary scale for the post is (01/06/2026):

€58,477, €59,871, €61,573, €64,767, €66,677, €69,056, €71,441, LSIs

New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.

As per HR Circular 012/25 Please note that previous experience working in the public service counts only where the individual was employed directly by the relevant Civil Service/Public Body. Details of service

Community Healthcare West provides a broad range of services that include Primary Care, Social Inclusion, Older People Services, Disability Services, Mental Health Services and Health & Wellbeing Services. These services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes.

The Health Service National Service Plan outlines the resource and performance accountability framework within which resources will be provided in. It set out the means by which the National Divisions, Hospital Groups and Community Healthcare Organisations / Community Healthcare West, are held to account for their performance in relation to access to services, the quality and safety of those services within the financial resources available and effectively harnessing the efforts of the overall workforce.

The Community Healthcare West Operational Plan has been prepared consistent with this framework and in line with related national policies, frameworks, performance targets, standards & resources. It sets out the type and volume of services which will be provided directly or through a range of agencies funded by us, and the actions which we will take to deliver on the goals of the HSE Corporate Plan over the course of the year. The Section Officer, Older People Services will work with clinical and non-clinical staff to facilitate the effective delivery of older people services in Community Nursing Units and District Hospitals within Mayo and Roscommon.

Purpose of the post

The position of Grade VI occupies a pivotal role within the structure of the Health Service Executive. It encompasses both managerial and administrative responsibilities through the many line functional areas of the service.

The Grade VI post involves the management and supervision of groups of staff, usually of one or two levels, undertaking defined tasks where the post holder’s main duties are concerned with the organisation of work and staff and the achievement of specific targets.

The Section Officer will manage and support the assigned staff. They will ensure compliance with the relevant policies, procedures and internal controls, including but not limited to Finance, HR, PPP, Health & Safety and HIQA. The Grade VI Section Officer also has responsibility for FOI and SARS requests for OPS Mayo. The Section Officer will develop and enhance systems for ongoing monitoring of expenditure and report against budget on a regular basis. The Section Officer will periodically review operations to identify opportunities for improvement. The Section Officer will take a lead role in the implementation of iPMS and other assignments as they arise.

Post specific requirements

· Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience of managing competing priorities and deadlines while ensuring compliance and accuracy, where the ability to analyse and interpret information to make decisions quickly and accurately was required

· Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience of working in a busy office environment which has involved interacting in a professional manner with senior management and other key internal and external stakeholders.

· Experience in Finance and HR required
