
Purchasing Manager (Fixed Term Contract)
Description
Dromoland Castle Resort is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Purchasing Manager to join our team on a fixed-term contract from July 2026 to January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional to play a pivotal role within one of Ireland's leading luxury hospitality destinations. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for driving purchasing strategy, strengthening supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring the seamless supply of goods and services across the resort. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and analytical skills, helping to deliver exceptional value while maintaining the high standards of quality and service for which Dromoland Castle Resort is renowned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead, and implement purchasing strategies that support business objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships, contracts, pricing agreements, and service standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, minimise waste, and improve purchasing efficiencies without compromising quality.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply risks to support informed decision-making.
- Produce monthly expenditure reports and purchasing performance analysis.
- Management of accounts receivable.
- Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, forecasting, and demand planning.
- Ensure supplier invoices and payments are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with department heads to understand operational requirements and maintain continuity of supply.
- Source and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to secure optimal commercial terms.
- Monitor inventory requirements and coordinate delivery schedules.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Third-level qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- Previous purchasing or procurement management experience, ideally within hospitality or a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience with Procure Wizard or similar procurement software is desirable.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical capability, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to influence at all levels.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
