The Role:
The Asset Operations functions form the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure. The Asset Operational Control Function has responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing the activities of key technical teams and infrastructure, which provide expertise and excellence on a national basis in collaboration with, and complementary to, the Regional and Local delivery of routine front-line water and wastewater services.
The Integrated Operations team monitor the performance of the operating environment, ensuring risks to service continuity are identified and managed and that the Customer first approach is at the forefront of Asset Operations activities. This will include the performance of the asset base, optimising production and managing network integrity during interventions.
The Telemetry Maintenance Technician responds to outstation failures, diagnoses problems, and keeps Uisce Éireann's telemetry estate running. You'll work on site troubleshooting equipment, perform remote diagnostics and reboots, swap hardware when needed, and update tracking systems for operational insight. You report to the Telemetry Maintenance Lead.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to outstation failure alerts and incidents, diagnose root causes on site and remotely
- Troubleshoot communications, power, and hardware issues across the outstation estate
- Perform remote reboots and system resets via remote access systems
- Swap and replace hardware (modems, outstations, network equipment, cabling) at field sites
- Test systems after maintenance to confirm functionality
- Update ServiceNow tickets with diagnostic findings, actions taken, and resolution status
- Track and report KPIs (mean time to repair, outstation availability, repeat issues) to support operational visibility
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Lead and Design team on recurring issues and improvement areas
- Support coordination with external contractors and specialist teams when required
- Adhere to all HSQE plans, policies and procedures.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' technical experience in one or more of: electrical systems, PLC/SCADA, IT infrastructure, or industrial troubleshooting
- Practical ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems
- Comfortable working on site and in the field, including outdoor installations
- Ability to work with remote access and diagnostics tools
- Understanding of basic networking and communications (IP, serial, mobile connectivity)
- Comfortable using ticketing systems and documenting work clearly
- No prior experience with telemetry or outstation systems is required; training and mentoring will be provided
- Reliable, methodical approach to problem-solving and safety on site

- Full, clean and valid Irish category B driving licence is minimum requirement. Additional Driving License categories an advantage. A clean driving licence is defined as meaning that the applicant has not been convicted of an offence under the Road Traffic Acts (other than an offence for which the penalty is the imposition of penalty points).
