Engineering Project Manager
Description
About Us
H&MV Engineering is a leading global provider of specialist Design, Engineering, and Construction Services, operating across the Data Centre, Renewable Energy, and Transmission & Distribution Utility sectors. With a reputation for excellence, we deliver complex EPC projects across the EMEA region, underpinned by a commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability.
Our success is driven by our people and our values — Safety, Excellence, Teamwork, Respect, and Sustainability — which shape how we work, how we grow, and how we support each other and our clients.
THE ROLE:
The Engineering Project Manager (EPM) is responsible for ensuring smooth engineering delivery across the full EPC lifecycle of a project. The role focuses on programme alignment, cross-discipline coordination, procurement integration, and technical-commercial interface.
The EPM does not replace discipline Leads or the Project Manager. Discipline Leads retain technical sign-off authority, and the Project Manager retains overall commercial and contractual ownership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead and deliver high-quality electrical engineering outputs across active projects simultaneously, ensuring consistency and technical excellence.
• Lead the delivery of high-quality electrical engineering outputs across multiple active projects, ensuring technical excellence and consistency.
• Drive the seamless alignment of all engineering disciplines to ensure fully coordinated, construction-ready (IFC) design packages.
• Own all engineering milestones and review cycles to eliminate delays, proactively challenging sequencing and dependencies to protect the critical path.
• Chair all key project meetings, including weekly internal DTMs, regular client-facing sessions, and LLE/OEM coordination meetings.
• Monitor engineering budgets, assess the cost impact of design changes, and review technical variation orders prior to submission.
• Track long-lead equipment (LLE) risks—including Transformers, GIS, and Protection Panels—and support EOT claims where necessary.
• Act as the primary technical lead for client and utility engagement, providing regular progress updates to planning and construction teams.
• Oversee the engineering-to-construction transition and manage the IFC release strategy to align with onsite sequencing.
• Resolve complex cross-discipline coordination issues and manage technical interface challenges between vendors and the project team.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Level 8 or equivalent).
• 5+ years’ experience in HV/MV EPC project environments.
• Strong understanding of Primary, Secondary, and Power Systems design processes.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering coordination.
• Strong knowledge of EPC lifecycle (Design, Procurement, Construction, Energisation).
• Commercial awareness with understanding of programme and contract impacts.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Construction mindset with understanding of sequencing and buildability.
Success Measures:
• Take full ownership of the engineering programme to deliver all outputs ahead of need dates, ensuring zero engineering-driven delays to the project timeline.
• Coordinate the release of construction-ready (IFC) packages to align precisely with onsite construction sequences and critical milestones.
• Enforce rigorous change control procedures to protect project scope, cost, and schedule from unapproved or unassessed design variations.
• Lead engagement with clients, consultants, and site teams to foster collaboration and ensure the rapid resolution of technical roadblocks.
• Drive early technical input and accurate specifications to secure long-lead items, effectively mitigating supply-chain and lead-time risks.
H&MV Engineering is an equal-opportunity employer.
