About the Role:

As a Mechanical Engineer, the role will involve leading and developing your teams, ensuring team development, project excellence, and effective communication between engineering and construction teams. Your role is pivotal in driving the success of our projects and fostering a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Centre Mechanical System Design:
    • Lead the mechanical design for data centres, focusing on heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) systems, fire protection, and other critical infrastructure that ensures the reliability of the data centre’s operations.
    • Ensure mechanical systems are designed for energy efficiency, resilience, and optimal performance in high-density data centre environments.
    • Collaborate with electrical and structural engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other data centre infrastructure.
  2. Project Management and Coordination:
    • Oversee all mechanical engineering aspects throughout the project lifecycle, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems in data centres.
    • Ensure all mechanical designs align with project timelines, budget constraints, and client specifications, particularly for high voltage power supply to data centres.
    • Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  3. Technical Expertise and Leadership:
    • Provide technical leadership on data centre-specific mechanical systems, including precision cooling, airflow management, and emergency backup mechanical systems.
    • Offer guidance on high-performance cooling solutions, considering energy efficiency and sustainability in large-scale data centre environments.
  4. Vendor and Contractor Management:
    • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors for the procurement and installation of data centre-specific mechanical equipment (e.g., chillers, cooling towers, pumps).
    • Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with data centre project requirements and industry standards.
    • Oversee on-site installation and testing of mechanical systems to ensure proper functioning, quality, and adherence to project specifications.
  5. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Prepare detailed technical reports, design specifications, drawings, and documentation for data centre mechanical systems.
    • Ensure all designs meet regulatory and compliance standards, as well as company quality protocols.
    • Maintain up-to-date records of project progress, changes, and final mechanical systems documentation.
  6. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to communicate technical details and resolve issues related to data centre mechanical systems.
    • Work closely with the data centre operations teams to ensure the systems are designed for scalability, reliability, and future-proofing against evolving data centre needs.

Skills/Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 1-2 years specifically focused on data centre or mission-critical facility projects.
    • Experience in designing and implementing cooling systems and other mechanical systems specific to data centres (e.g., CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, etc.).
