Your impact


Are you an experienced Health & Safety Manager seeking to join one of Ireland’s most high-profile and complex infrastructure programmes, based in Dublin? If so, Jacobs has a fantastic opportunity available;

You will play a pivotal leadership role in supporting the development and delivery of a robust Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) programme across a live, multi-stakeholder urban environment.

This is a highly visible position, interfacing with both Client and Contractor teams, where strong leadership, technical expertise and collaborative people skills are essential to achieving outstanding safety and wellbeing outcomes.


Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the Project HSW Management System, including:
    • Contractor assurance
    • Safety in Design
    • Training and competence
    • Emergency preparedness
    • Incident investigation and reporting
  • Lead the annual review of all Client Partner internal HSW processes.
  • Lead the configuration, build and testing of the HSW Digital System, including workflow development and compliance with data protection requirements.
  • Lead and manage the HSW Management Review process.


Governance, Leadership & Reporting

  • Deputise for the Project Health & Safety Manager at leadership meetings, forums and governance groups.
  • Support preparation of high-quality papers and materials for HSW Governance and Senior Leadership meetings.
  • Analyse performance data, identify trends and provide insight-driven recommendations through monthly reporting cycles.
  • Attend Framework HSW Forums with Contractors and NTA leadership, championing improvement initiatives and campaigns.


Project-Wide HSW Services

  • Manage Project training and capability matrices, including procurement of training services and management of supplier SLAs.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical Functional Area Leads to deliver the Project Safety in Design Plan.
  • Advise the Client on regulatory and contractual compliance, risk management and industry best practice.
  • Monitor effectiveness of Scope documentation and propose improvements where required.
  • Participate in scheme-level assurance, progress, incident review and lessons-learned forums.
  • Complete audits and assurance activities, ensuring findings are tracked, trended and closed out effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all HSW activities.
  • Champion a psychologically safe, inclusive and collaborative working culture across the project.


Here's what you'll need


  • Level 6 qualification or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management
  • Chartered membership of IOSH (or equivalent professional body).
  • Extensive knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and associated regulations.
  • Minimum 7 years’ leadership-level experience working on large, complex infrastructure or construction programmes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive positive safety culture change.

  • Strong understanding of NEC frameworks and contract mechanisms.
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in digital HSW systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-sufficient, proactive and solutions-focused.
