The role
We’re looking for a Head of Commercial Energy to help protect and grow the value of our commercial supply portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded professional to join an energy transition company as it continues to expand its remit in Ireland.
Reporting to the Group Chief Commercial officer, you will work closely with teams across finance, trading, regulation, customer excellence & retention and operations to deliver sustainable growth and value.
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead the sales and commercial strategy for the business, managing a team of 6 field-based salespeople. You will be responsible for setting pricing, sales forecasting, reporting, and overseeing all commercial operations, including quotes, tenders, and large-scale project support.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with the senior management team to define and execute growth strategy, improve performance across the commercial sales function, and drive profitability and pipeline conversion. You will also act as a key point of contact for major accounts and play an active role in high-value deals.
Responsibilities include:
- Maximise value across the commercial supply portfolio, identifying opportunities to improve revenues, reduce costs and manage risk.
- Lead commercial input into contracts and negotiations, working closely with delivery and procurement teams to achieve balanced outcomes.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to deliver on strategic and operational goals.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, helping to align strategy, manage uncertainty and unlock portfolio-wide benefits.
- Strong commercial and financial skills, with experience applying them to complex projects or investments, ideally within a Renewables, Energy or Power Generation environment.
- Experience working with contracts and negotiations, and an understanding of how commercial terms create or protect value.
- The ability to influence and collaborate, building constructive relationships across different teams and viewpoints.
- Monitor regulatory and market developments, aligning strategy to maximise value.
What We're Looking For:
- 7 -10 years' experience in a senior commercial, sales or director-level role within the Energy Supply industry
- Strong track record of leading commercial teams, setting and delivering on sales and revenue targets
- Experience managing tenders, contract negotiations, pricing, and forecasting
- A confident, strategic thinker who is also comfortable rolling up their sleeves and leading from the front Strong people leadership skills — you know how to build, empower, and grow teams.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Analytical, strategic, and creative — able to balance data with bold ideas.
- Passion for understanding consumers energy requirements and translating that into a viable commercial offering that stands out in a busy marketplace.
- A curious, improvement-focused mindset, with experience delivering value or optimisation initiatives in changing environments.
- Knowledge of energy sector routes to market.
- Full clean driving license
