St. Michael’s House are recruiting Direct Support Workers to support our Local Centres Day Services – North Dublin

St. Michael's House is a community-based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service and high standard of day service to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area.

The successful candidate will be part of a highly skilled creative and motivated teams within the Northside of Dublin.

The teams within the Local Centers provide diverse models of care to individuals who function within the moderate to severe ranges of intellectual disability. Supports offered include assisting with activities of daily living and engaging in activation within the Centre and the local community. The goal for all is to engage in meaningful activities and to be an active participant in the community

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key duties associated with the role:

  • To Support each person to effectively communicate and to work alongside Social Care Workers and Social Care Leader to ensure they make informed decisions, exercise choice, control and autonomy in their life.
  • Contribute and assist with the monitoring outcomes for the person as identified in the personal planning processes.
  • Identify supports and work in partnership with the individual, their family, social care workers and other supports as outlined within individual plans.
  • Have an understanding of creating appropriate Autism specific environments and be aware of and be supported to work with Positive Behavioural Support Plans.

The ideal Direct Support Worker must possess:

A minimum of one of the following Qualifications:

  • Intellectual Disability Practice (5M1761)
  • Community Health Services (5M4468)
  • Health Service Skills (5M3782)
  • Healthcare Support (5M4339)
  • Community Care (5M2786)
  • Nursing Studies (5M4349)

Experience Required:

  • At least 1-year previous experience of supporting individuals with Intellectual disability
  • Have experience of supporting behaviours that challenge and an ability to work within the constraints of clinically led support plan.
  • Be creative, innovative and be open to working on interventions in new ways
  • Eligible to work in Ireland.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience of supporting individuals with intellectual disability.
  • Have experience of working as part of a team.

Salary Scale – Direct Support Worker: 

Successful candidates will be paid in line with June 26 HSE revised consolidated Care Assistant (Disability) pay scale; point 1 – €34,881 – point 15 €48,434 based on working a 39 hour week. 

Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
